Sunburn is a common problem in summer as well as winter. It is caused by overexposure to UV rays from the sun. Sunburn can range from mild to severe. There are a variety of ways to cure sunburn at home; using a few things you can heal your sunburn.
Here are the ways to cure sunburn at home:
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera works like a miracle for the sunburn. It contains glycoproteins that speed healing by preventing pain. It also moisturizes skin, stimulates growth and repair, and improves wound healing. Besides this, aloe vera soothes itching.
Yogurt
Unflavored yogurt holds enzymes and probiotics, which help heal sunburn naturally. You can apply yogurt directly to affected areas then sit for five minutes. Then gently wash off with water.
Ice
An ice pack is applied to soothe sunburns as it can numb the burned area and diminish inflammation. Wrap an ice pack in a soft towel and apply it to the sunburn area. Sit for 5-10 minutes.
Reapply if necessary. Never put ice directly on the skin as it can cause more harm.
Green Tea
Studies advise that the antioxidant compounds present in green tea help prevent sunburn and skin cancer when applying to the skin or sip it daily. It also protects skin against inflammation caused by the sun’s UV rays. You need a cup of green tea and let it cool. Then gently dab it to the burned skin with the help of cotton ball after coming from the sun.
Coconut Oil
The anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties of coconut oil help to relieve sunburns. So, take some coconut oil in your palms and use it directly to the sunburned skin. Leave it until it dries completely. You can apply this twice daily.
